115 Key Principles for Success

Principle 22 - Turtle Tasks

I use the term "turtle task" from the Aesop Fable - Tortoise and the Hare.

This is a task that is slow at first but will improve productivity in the long term.

A task or habit that saves time with other tasks.

Automation, using tools, or learning new techniques are important tasks that can take time now but will give you extreme benefits down the road.

Any habit you do now that reduces future efforts is also a turtle task.

Some examples of tasks I've done are:
  • Logger
  • Time-monitor - Excel spreadsheet to help collect information, track time and organize information
  • Listi.net
